Aug 23, 2026 · Google ReviewOwners were super nice we were lucky enough to catch them when they were a little slow but they are always helpful and kind, my wife wanted a request for a cookies and cream funnel cake (not a menu item) btw and they nailed it went over the top. Go by and get one if you like cookies and cream. Tell them to make it a regular thing. 10 stars $$Update....!!! Once again knocked out of the park off the VT campus check the picture cookies and cream funnel cake, pure joy every bite my wife said. I got the brownie and ice cream and it was delicious, my kids got ice cream and there is nothing left. The owners are awesome I can't say that enough. Go by grab a dessert check it out talk to them you won't be disappointed.
Jul 22, 2026 · Google ReviewThe Boardwalk Blacksburg, VA Saturday, June 20, 2025 ~2:00 - 3:00PM We stopped by The Boardwalk after getting Benny’s across the street because we were craving something sweet afterward. This was my first visit, and we were excited to try it since it seemed like a fun spot. The inside has a cute ice cream shop vibe and feels very family-friendly. It looks like the space has expanded since the last time we had seen it, and there are now more tables, drink vending machines, and even some interactive things in the back like a boxing arcade game. The walkway is a little cramped, but it’s still easy enough to move around. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating nearby, which is nice. The exterior is located below some apartments/studios, so it isn’t the most glamorous-looking location, but the shop itself still looks nice. When we went, it was very quiet and relaxed. The overall atmosphere is casual and definitely feels like a place meant for families, kids, or anyone looking for a fun dessert stop. The ordering process is simple: you look at the menu, order at the front, give your name, and they call you when your food is ready. We weren’t immediately greeted when we walked in, but that was understandable since the only employee working was busy in the back. Once we ordered, the staff member was friendly and helpful. Since we had a larger order, everything came out in waves rather than all at once, but considering there was only one person working, the speed was still pretty reasonable. One small thing to note is that the menu was a little confusing for me. The funnel cake menu lists the base price and then optional add-ons like ice cream and whipped cream. However, the “Hall of Fame” funnel cakes displayed on the wall looked like they were separate flavors with their own set prices, so I assumed the price applied to those too. It turns out they’re essentially regular funnel cakes with the additional topping charges added separately. Definitely my misunderstanding, but it’s something to keep in mind when ordering. We ordered a 12 oz vanilla bean ice cream with caramel drizzle, a brownie sandwich with two scoops of birthday cake ice cream, a 5-piece fried Oreo, and an 8-inch funnel cake with powdered sugar, cookies and cream ice cream, and caramel drizzle (the Hokie Pokie). The food was honestly amazing. The absolute standout was the brownie sandwich. The brownie was warm, thick, gooey, and basically melted in my mouth. It was genuinely one of the best brownies I’ve had in a while. The fried Oreos were also my first time trying them, and they were delicious—the outside was perfectly crispy while the inside stayed creamy and had that classic Oreo flavor. The funnel cake was also really good. It was crispy, fresh, and had great flavor. Letting the melted ice cream soak into it made it perfectly soft while still keeping that crispy texture. My only small complaint was that the cookies and cream ice cream tasted slightly off but I suspect the culprit was the caramel drizzle. Overall though, the dessert was still delicious. Everything came out incredibly fresh—literally straight from the fryer. The fried Oreos were so fresh that I almost burned my mouth because I was too impatient to wait. The portions were also generous. The brownie sandwich was huge, the fried Oreos were bigger than expected, and the funnel cake was a great size. The prices are slightly on the higher side, especially for some of the bigger items, but overall I still think the value was fair considering the portion sizes. Overall, I really enjoyed this experience. It's a cute shop with a variety of fried food options as well as sweets. The desserts were fresh, the portions were generous, and it’s a really fun spot if you’re craving something indulgent. I’d definitely come back, especially to try more desserts in the future. I’d recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth, families, or anyone looking for a fun dessert stop downtown.

Apr 1, 2026 · Google ReviewThis family business (owned father and son) is such a sweet destination to go to when in Blacksburg! I ordered a root beer float and although they were out of the soda, the owner ran to get more root beer to meet my request. My boyfriend said it was the best root beer float he’s had! Very rare to come across such honest and kind customer service these days
