The halwa drinks were pretty great but I once noticed flies in the cabinet where they store their baked items. They should take better care of the hygiene.

I discovered Halwa in 2022 while searching for a replacement cafe, as the one I frequented at the time had unfortunately closed. There were few other coffee shops at the time that opened as early as Halwa and closed as late, so that was an immediate green flag. Every other Monday since mid-2022, I take a walk from In Balance Yoga Studio to Halwa in the evening. It quickly became my favorite coffee shop, with my normal orders being the rose latte, bourbon caramel chai, and iced americano. I often get an americano at any coffee shop I go to just to sample the coffee, but it has become my most common order here. I really enjoy the quality of coffee and way its brewed. The variety of baked goods is incredible -- every time I walk in, even after years of being a customer, there's always something new and delicious. The interior of the cafe is cozy and warm for rainy days or cold evenings, while also having great sources of natural light for energized mornings and afternoons. The outdoor seating is also very nice for watching the sun go down or observing the busy streets when students are in. The staff have always been absolutely lovely, even when dealing with rude and problematic customers. The baristas do their jobs efficiently and with loads of care. I've seen so much patience in many difficult scenarios and I am very impressed by their ability to handle such massive rushes during the school year. Additionally, they have incredible music taste. The owner, Karmen, is such a sweet and loving person. Her dedication to her dreams and the art of baking is so inspiring. I'm very grateful for her, her staff, and everything that keeps Halwa alive and thriving! I highly recommend Halwa every season of the year as a study spot, a morning coffee stop, an evening excursion, a place to do art/write, a place to bring friends, and much more.
