The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent! The young lady who took care of my husband and me was very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and truly unique—a perfect place to enjoy a special moment together. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sep 3, 2026 · Google ReviewMy brother recommended this beautiful spot at VTech, and I must say, I became a fan of their chicken wings. These were the crispiest and most delicious chicken wings I’ve ever had. Their Thai milk tea was also great! I couldn’t resist going back the next day just to have those wings again!
Jun 18, 2026 · Google ReviewWe stopped by Hefun and ordered the gyudon and a bento box. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were very generous. The gyudon was comforting and well-seasoned, and the bento offered a nice variety. We also tried the sushi, which was surprisingly good for the price. Overall, a great value with fresh food and satisfying portions. We'd definitely come back!
Jul 3, 2026 · Google ReviewHefun Blacksburg, Virginia Monday, April 13th, 2026 ~3-4PM This was my third visit to Hefun. My mom, dad, and I were in the mood for Asian-style food, and after having some difficult experiences at other places, we decided to come back here. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and leans more toward a bar-focused setup, but it still feels cozy. When you walk in, the seating area is right up front with some tables, along with a long bar and a slightly open kitchen where you can catch glimpses of the staff cooking and moving around. There are more bar areas and the bathrooms further back. It gives off a casual, slightly club-like vibe that feels more geared toward college students than families, but it’s still a comfortable place to sit and eat. The interior has a subtle Japanese-inspired aesthetic with wall decor and small design touches that add to the atmosphere. The exterior is nice as well, with a small outdoor seating area. It is a bit tucked between two buildings, though, so it’d be easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. There’s no direct parking, but you can usually find street parking nearby and use a meter. Inside, it was very quiet during our visit—we were the only dine-in customers for most of the time, aside from the occasional delivery pickup. The service was decent but pretty minimal. We were greeted and seated without any issues, but after taking our order, the staff mostly left us alone. They brought a water pitcher to the table, so there wasn’t really a need for refills, and they only came back to clear plates and bring the check. It wasn’t bad service at all—just not very interactive or personal. Food timing was slightly on the slower side, especially considering how empty it was, but nothing unreasonable. The food was where this place really stood out. For starters, my miso soup (pictured below; included with my entrée) was exactly what you’d expect—simple and solid. My parents both got pork gyoza, and my dad also ordered ika karaage (calamari). The gyoza were surprisingly large and very flavorful, with a great balance of filling to wrapper. They had that perfect texture—lightly crispy on the outside but still soft and steamed. The calamari was extremely crispy and came in a generous portion, though it didn’t have a super strong squid flavor. Still, it was enjoyable. For my entrée, I ordered the Hibachi Chicken (pictured below), which came with fried rice, mixed vegetables, teriyaki sauce, and yum yum sauce. The chicken was well-cooked and flavorful, and the vegetables were honestly one of the highlights—soft, juicy, and seasoned really well. Even if you’re not big on vegetables, these were great. The fried rice was slightly plain on its own and had a few uneven spots, but mixing it with the yum yum sauce made a huge difference. That sauce (along with their spicy mayo) is seriously one of the best parts of the meal. My mom and I split a Godzilla roll (pictured below; crabstick, cucumber, avocado, topped with shrimp, eel, eel sauce, and spicy mayo), and it was probably one of the standout items. The combination of textures and sauces worked really well together. She also got the katsudon, which came in a huge bowl and had a great mix of flavors and textures—crispy, tender pork with egg, onion, and rice all coming together really nicely. My dad ordered a sushi deal (three rolls for $15.99) and got a California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and eel roll. He enjoyed all of them. The portion sizes across everything we ordered were excellent for the price. The pricing felt very fair, and unlike a lot of places, the quality actually matched (or even exceeded) what we paid. They also seem to have a lot of deals and specials depending on the day, which adds even more value. Overall, this was a really solid experience. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, the food was consistently good across the board, and the portions and pricing made it feel like a great value. I would definitely come back, especially to try more of their menu like ramen, rice bowls, and other sushi options.
Apr 13, 2026 · Google ReviewHefun has been a go-to spot for me throughout my time at Virginia Tech, and for good reason. Everything on the menu is delicious, but the tonkatsu ramen truly stands out! The waitresses are consistently friendly and approachable, which goes a long way in creating a positive dining experience. They check in at just the right times, making sure everything is to your liking, and quickly addressing any needs you might have.
